Steven S. Schwarzschild (1924–1989) foi rabino , filósofo , teólogo e editor .

Biografia

Schwarzschild nasceu em Frankfurt am Main , Alemanha e cresceu em Berlim . Ele fugiu para os Estados Unidos com sua família em 1939.

Ele recebeu a ordenação no Hebraico Union College em Cincinnati em 1948. Contribuição para a filosofia judaica

O tema de sua dissertação foi o pensamento de Nachman Krochmal e Hermann Cohen como filósofos da história.

Ele publicou uma série de artigos em jornais acadêmicos sobre temas filosóficos e teológicos judaicos, como ética judaica , estética , messianismo , escatologia , halakha e o papel do racionalismo e as filosofias de notáveis ​​filósofos judeus como Martin Buber , Hermann Cohen, Theodor W. Seguindo Hermann Cohen, Schwarzschild adotou uma forma de neo-kantianismo e enfatizou o papel da halakha no Judaísmo como um sistema racional de ideais morais. Ele também foi fortemente influenciado por Maimonides.

Ideologia política

Em outros ensaios, ele expressou pontos de vista socialistas pacifistas e democráticos e criticou o sionismo .

Ele afirmou na Conferência Nacional Inter-religiosa sobre a Paz :
